Speaker Bios:

Maureen (Mo) Townsend leads the development team for IBM's flagship relational database, Db2 for z/OS.  Together with her colleagues, including developers, Distinguished Engineers, and product managers, she pursues a strategy to keep Db2 at the forefront of capability and resiliency, as demanded by the largest clients in the world.  Mo applies her decades of experience to delighting clients daily and looks forward to sharing the latest news with you during this interactive session.

 

Michael Woo is an IBM Program Director and the senior manager for Db2 for z/OS Worldwide Technical Support.  A graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in electrical engineering, Michael has been with IBM for over thirty years -- starting his career in the Dallas / Fort Worth area as a programmer working on mail and calendar application software before eventually relocating to the San Francisco Bay area to work on database and database-related software.  Since joining the Db2 for z/OS organization in 2005, he has held a number of management positions in technical support, development, and performance, before assuming his current role leading the global support team.

This session will cover the latest news on how Db2 for z/OS addresses the challenges you are facing to optimize your enterprise data. I will share the latest Db2 12 technological innovations for both transactional and analytical workloads. I'll also highlight recent announcements around Db2 AI for z/OS that can improve application performance as well as reduce time and cost. This session will also discuss Db2 VNext, which will provide embedded AI capabilities to serve insights and provide deeper integration & learning.

 

 

A Behind-The-Scenes Look at Db2 for z/OS Support

Do you want to know more about how IBM has transformed support, what happens when you open a case with Db2 for z/OS support, and how to get the most out of your support experience?  If so then this is the presentation for you.  We'll cover three of IBM's largest support transformation initiatives of the last three years and how they impact you.  We'll also give you a behind-the-scenes look at how our Db2 for z/OS support team is structured and how we work on a daily basis.  Most importantly, we'll discuss how you can most effectively engage and work with our team of technical analysts and managers to progress and resolve problems that you report.
